Al A’ali Shopping Complex Launches Breast Cancer Awareness Week

OCTOBER 2014 – Manama, Bahrain: Al A’ali Shopping Complex in collaboration with Think Pink Bahrain announces the launch of an exciting campaign under the title “Al A’ali Thinks Pink!” The campaign entails a week full week of exciting activities to help raise awareness for a worthy and honorable cause including a Walk-a-Thon as well as two “Bike for Breast Cancer” stations situated around the complex. The activities of the week encompassed a new approach of melding health and fitness with Breast Cancer Awareness, in line with Think Pink Bahrain’s new ethos and strategy for the year.

Shoppers and passers by at Al A’ali Shopping Complex can visit one of two Bike for Breast Cancer stations in the complex. The stations, located at gate 2 near Swirl Café and in the mini atrium near Café Lilou, respectively, allow shoppers to challenge friends and colleagues to see who can cycle the longest.

Both stations are outfitted with top of the range stationary exercise bikes, generously provided by FIT Gym and Spa. A fun photo booth and polaroid cameras are also available along with a series of appropriately pink props to adorn participants who wish to take photos.

“We are so excited to have collaborated with Think Pink Bahrain for this event and charity fundraiser. Staying active is sometimes hard in Bahrain’s heat, which is why we were delighted to set up the bike for breast cancer stations indoors. We hope to make this an annual campaign moving forward” said Shafeeka Fakier, Centre Manager at Al A’ali Shopping Complex.

The pledge is just 1 BD per kilometer, and all proceeds will go towards Think Pink. Prizes will also be given for the longest distances cycled throughout the week – this is definitely an opportunity not to be missed.

The Launch of The Makeup Manual Academy

Mai Almoayyed, better known as The Makeup Manual and one of our most passionate clients, has taken extreme measures to pursue her passion and follow her dream. The extent of our excitement was unmeasurable when she approached us in order to help her rebrand and work on her website. Her website now features product reviews, new collections, make-up tips, how to’s and random makeup-talk. On a daily basis, she tests new products and informs her visitors of what is good and what is not. We were able to redesign her logo and insure that her website better incorporates the brand identity. 
 
Recently Mai was able to open her Makeup Academy, a dream come true and the next step in her makeup and teaching career. The venue consists of a spacious classroom to teach the various methods & techniques of professional makeup. Hailing from Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, Gemini T-shirts is a unique illustrated and hand painted t-shirt line inspired by Arabic and khaleeji pop culture. Described as “moving paintings, made with passion” Gemini T-shirts is the brainchild of scientist-turned-artist Walaa Fadhel.
Walaa came up with the idea for Gemini T-shirts during her first year of university when she found herself frustrated at the lack of originality in young girls clothing choices – it seemed everyone was wearing the same t-shirts from generic popular brands.

 

Inspired to innovate, Walaa started designing her own t-shirts in 2010. She started the project because of her faith in the importance of expressing one’s self. Later on Walaa moved on designing for friends and colleagues, eventually launching Gemini T-shirts as a full-fledged business in 2012.

 

Gemini T-shirts creates a limited edition line of t-shirts each year, in addition to customised designs and commissions. What makes a Gemini piece unique is the fine attention to detail and the truly artistic nature of the designs.

 

Since its inception Gemini T-shirts has garnered a large fan base with over 17,000 followers on Instagram and 25,000 followers on twitter.

THE BAHRAIN YACHT CLUB HOLDS COVETED SPRING REGATTA

MANAMA (Sitra) – April 27th 2014: The Bahrain Yacht Club (BYC) was thrilled to hold it’s annual Spring Regatta last Friday the 25th and Saturday the 26th of April.  

The highly anticipated event was a hit with the local sailing community as well as boating and water sports enthusiasts from all across Bahrain, with over 300 visitors across both days of both members and non-members who were welcome to join in the fun for a small guest fee.

 

Families enjoyed a fantastic day out with a variety of activities including kayaking in the lagoon, a bouncing castle and outdoor games including balloon popping, ring toss and a sandcastle building competition for children. A DJ and a live band will kept guests entertained throughout the day, and a barbeque was also available on the beach, in the spirit of the perfect outdoor weather this time of year.

The annual event also included a competition where sailors will competed for the title of “Spring Regatta Champion”. This year’s regatta consisted of five races over the course of the day: three adult races and two junior races. The adult races will comprised Cruisers Yachts, Multi hulls and dinghies while the junior races only included dinghies.

The weather conditions of day one were moderate with the wind at 10 – 15 knots, which lead to some interesting racing across all fleets. Later in the day the wind dropped making conditions very tactical with a strong tidal flow in the afternoon! The waters were fierce with a total of 53 boats and 92 competitors in total.

Each category in each race division was awarded for their efforts with a ‘placed’ trophy or medal. Winners were also be presented a token as a keepsake of the competition. The results of the races were presented during an awards ceremony on Saturday afternoon.  The results are as follows:

Bahrain Flour Mills has launched a new corporate identity and product branding to support its goal of being a market leader preserving national food security for Bahrain. The company will now operate as “Al-Matahin” as it takes a step forward to becoming a regionally recognized brand. The company unveiled its new corporate identity during their Annual General Meeting held on Wednesday, March 26th at Kempinski Hotel.

“There were a number of compelling reasons to rebrand Bahrain Flour Mills,” commented Mohammed Nass, Managing Director.  “We felt the name “Bahrain Flour Mills” was tiresome, long and not aligned with our current ideology or vision for the future. Also, we want to make sure our company name is simple, easy to remember and distinguished from the names of our regional competitors.  Now is an ideal time to transition to a new company name, having just taken on the decision to invest an amount of BD 12 million for the acquisition, installing and commissioning of a new replacement flourmill with a total capacity of 600 tons per day in addition to the related service, operational and storage facilities. ”

Peak Professional Performance Workshop with Kelly Armatage

Obai and Hill had the pleasure of attending a riveting workshop titled ” Peak Professional Performance” delivered by Kelly Armatage on Tuesday the 1st of April at her consultancy office in Zinj.

Kelly Armatage is an internationally renowned life coach, focused and qualified in providing Counselling, Coaching, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Sessions, Meditation Classes, Self Development Workshops and Corporate Training in Bahrain and globally. Not only is Kelly often booked to speak publicly at events, she also runs Seminars and Workshops that facilitate significant change for attendees on a personal, emotional, professional and spiritual level.

The workshop was customized for the Obai & Hill staff and centered on identifying the agency’s “mighty why” and mission: to become the number one PR agency in the Gulf by the year 2020.

Kelly started the session with an introductory exercise where the team members had to introduce themselves and identify what year of the Chinese zodiac they were born in. She then eased into the workshop by outlining how one can change their mindset to tackle everyday goals, no matter how large or small they are. She also discussed the methods of team alignment, and introduced tools to help optimize workflow in a group setting.

The team was also briefed on the tenets of successful leadership – and how each individual member of the team can instill leadership qualities within themselves, no matter what their role or job description.

Kelly also spoke about beating procrastination, and how to keep motivation high in the work environment.

Overall the session was uplifting and inspirational. The team left feeling energised, optimistic and excited for the future. The team would like to thank Kelly Armatage for delivering such a wonderful session and they look forward to many more sessions and workshops with her along their quest to achieving their mission.
