Melanie Sarginson: Reiki Bahrain

contactimg

Reiki is a traditional Japanese healing technique that involves the laying-on of hands in a series of specific hand positions corresponding to the major organs and energy centres in the body.

Acting on a physical, mental and emotional level, Reiki promotes relaxation and inner peace, restores order to the body whose vital energy has become unbalanced and heals a wide range of ailments, from stress to migraines. Reiki works well with other healing modalities for example Reflexology, Acupuncture, Aromatherapy, Crystal Healing and Homeopathy.

Melanie Sarginson offers Reiki treatments and teaches Reiki in Bahrain in three different systems – Usui Reiki Ryoho, Karuna Reiki and Jikiden Reiki. According to Sarginson, “Anyone can learn to use Reiki. It is very simple. Through an energetic empowerment procedure called an ‘attunement’ the teacher empowers the student to use Reiki for healing of self and others. From that moment on the student has Reiki. It stays with them for life.”

Reiki can help you to discover who you really are as well as enables you to heal yourself and others on a physical and emotional level. The courses offered by Sarginson are wonderfully unique, inspirational and an enlightening journey of self- discovery that can change your life forever. Also, she chooses to run small classes to keep the training more personal. Comprehensive manuals and post-course support are included.

Her treatment room is located on Amwaj island, Bahrain.

noon by noor logo
Noon by Noor is a fashion label by the talented Bahrainis Shaikha Noor Al Khalifa and Shaikha Haya Al Khalifa The name for the line, Noon By Noor, comes from the Arabic letter ‘N’, pronounced as ‘noon’. The label offers an array of feminine dresses, tailored blazers and statement separates that can be worn in casual sophistication by day, or in exquisite elegance by night. Noon by Noor has made a huge impact in the fashion world, with an online boutique, and the label stocks in Saks Fifth Avenue Bahrain, Saks Fifth Avenue Dubai, and Harvey Nichols Kuwait.

All eyes were on Noon by Noor’s Spring 2014 collection at Mercedez Benz Fashion Week. It was evident that the collection was inspired by the beauty of nature, which was seen through the prints, floral appliques and ornate embellishments. Each piece was feminine, yet still modern. We loved every piece and are proud of the Bahraini designers! We wish them the best of luck and we’re excited to see what the future holds for Noon by Noor!
Take a look at our favorite pieces from the Spring 2014 collection.

MBA Fakhro Programme Launch

Manama, Bahrain (7 August, 2013) – MBA Fakhro Group, the holding company for Bahraini entrepreneur Mohammed Adel Fakhro’s business interests, today launched a call for applications for an Entrepreneurship Mentoring Program, the first in a series of initiatives focused on supporting a new generation of entrepreneurs. The program aims to encourage students to think outside the box and consider entrepreneurship as a very real possibility for their futures careers.

More than a summer internship, the MBA Fakhro Entrepreneurship Mentoring Program aims to help five budding businessmen and women to develop their business ideas and bring them closer to reality. The initiative, which is set to be personally overseen by Fakhro targets university students between 18 to 23. Candidates will undergo an interviewing process and will be selected based on the potential of their business ideas and their ambitions. They will be placed within the Group’s various entities, where they will also gain valuable work experience.

Successful applicants will attend weekly mentoring sessions with Fakhro, where he will help develop their business plans and suggest solutions. Where possible, Fakhro will also utilize the Group’s network to support the entrepreneurs in realizing their goals. A panel of experts will also be conducting regular sessions with the students on various topics, focused on teaching them about the business world and helping to foster within each of them an entrepreneurial spirit.

“With the support offered through government initiatives such as Tamkeen, as well as the establishment of organisations such as the business angels network Tenmou, the time has never been better for young entrepreneurs to try out new ideas at a relatively lower risk level,” said Fakhro.

“We feel that supporting budding entrepreneurs is a noble effect and the best way of supporting the economy as a whole. It is, after all, entrepreneurs and the possible jobs that they will create that will pave the way for a better job market, and a better economy as a whole,” he said.

The program will also teach applicants to be ideal employees through practicing   ‘intrapreneurship’, the concept of innovating from within an institution.

The panel which supporting the program will include:

  • Hasan Haider, CEO, Tenmou Business Angels (The region’s first business angels network )
  • Noof Khonji, innovation consultant whose career has been based on helping people and institutions think outside he box
  •  Venkat S, Head of Strategic Business Initiatives at MBA Fakhro
  • Deepu Krishnan, Manager – Internet Businesses at MBA Fakhro Group

This program is the first of a series of events through which MBA Fakhro hopes to contribute to the growing interest in promoting new business ideas. Getting accepted into this program will also have the additional benefit of getting in on the ground floor of further MBA Fakhro entrepreneurship initiatives, another of which is due to be announced in the near future.

Applicants will need to fill a questionnaire and write an introduction explaining why they should be selected. Supplementary information, such as school and university grades, will help, but are not essential, explained Fakrho.

“We debated long and hard about whether to make university and school grades a deciding factor in the selection process. Although higher education played an important part in my personal professional development, we recognize that not everyone reaches their goals in the same way. There have been many successful entrepreneurs who didn’t finish their higher education, including some famous ones like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg,” he said.

“What we are looking for is creativity, enthusiasm, hard work, and an appetite for thinking outside the box. The cover letter and responses to our questionnaire will tell us everything we need to know to evaluate the students. Brief interviews with the students will help us shortlist the final candidates.”

“My colleagues, who have kindly accepted to take part in this program, and I look forward to mentoring these young minds and see where things go”.

Emails can be sent to internship@mbafakhro.com including the following documents:

  • A cover letter about why they want to participate in the program
  • Educational information and references, or a CV if available
  • A copy of the applicant’s CPR
  • Responses to the questionnaire downloadable on the website www.mbafakhro.com
  • Applicants will be accepted from August 4 – August 24
  • The internship will run from August 25 – September 12

The Domain Bahrain Private Tour

The Domain Bahrain is a luxury boutique hotel that inhibits a socially charged members club, in the heart of a bustling business district, the Diplomatic area Bahrain. The sleek 36-storey, brand new 131-keys social club and boutique hotel is a new cutting-edge hospitality concept in the Middle East that focuses on sociability, entertainment and technology.

The luxury boutique hotel’s slogan “Stay, Work, Play” represents the blurring lines between business and leisure. Media, entertainment, technology, style and sociability are all embedded into one luxury, innovative experience. The social element is present throughout the hotel, giving guests the opportunity to stay, eat, work, relax, network and socialize at The Domain, either as a regular guest or through the club’s membership.

An app has been developed to enable guests and members to customize their experience before and during their stay and to interact with one another. The app is the Domain’s private social platform “The Conversation”. The emphasis on sociality is further emphasized by the eclectic, reverse-mix of the hotel-club’s dining and entertainment outlets.

With a total of nine social spaces, consisting of restaurants, bars and lounges, The Domain Bahrain is a destination for food culture. Ranging from Japanese, South of France and Basque to Italian-Lebanese, foodies and gourmands from around the world will be spoilt for choice.

The Domain sidesteps a traditional hotel lobby for an entrance lobby where each guest is greeted by a Domain Manager, who ushers them up to their room to check them in and introduce them to their butler. Rooms and suites are all serviced by floor butlers, who handle everything once the guest is checked in.

The Domain Bahrain invited us for a meeting and an exclusive private tour. During the meeting, they explained the concept behind the Domain Bahrain. They showed us the nine restaurants and lounges, the various suites and rooms, all with a breathtaking view.

Event: Saks Fifth Avenue Fall/Winter Preview

The amazing team at Saks Fifth Avenue invited Obai & Hill to preview their latest Fall/Winter Collection. Bahrain’s fashion bloggers and our team divided into groups to style our own mannequins. Racing through the department store, we could not help but get distracted by all the pieces we wanted to purchase for ourselves. The Obai & Hill team divided into two groups, where one group focused on styling a woman ready-to-wear outfit, and the other focused on a man ready-to-wear outfit. We styled our mannequins based on how the Obai & Hill woman and man would dress during fall.

We enjoyed mingling with the Saks team and bloggers over canapés and fresh juices. We had the best time at this event and would like to thank the Saks Fifth Avenue team again for inviting us to such a fabulous event and for the goodie bags filled with beauty essentials!

Visit Saks Fifth Avenue at Bahrain City Centre to view their latest Fall/Winter collection, as well as the mannequins we styled, which will be in store for the next week!
