FRESH CASUAL DINING COMES TO KUWAIT – VAPIANO OPENS IN THE AVENUES MALL
Vapiano, the distinctive restaurant experience that has been sweeping through the GCC has finally opened in Kuwait at The Avenues Mall. It promises to bring its guests a special restaurant experience through its first ever branch in the country. Defining the future of “fresh casual dining”, this european chain has been praised by critics for its delicious menu, interactive atmosphere and innovative restaurant technology.
Vapiano is an established restaurant concept with more than 70 worldwide locations in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East and Asia with several additional international locations currently in development. This will be the group‘s fourth venture in the GCC following, conveniently located on the first floor of The Avenues Mall.
On Wednesday, June 11, the highly anticipated grand opening of Vapiano Kuwait was a highlight at the Avenues Mall. The event was hosted by Ascia AFK, one of Kuwait’s most prominent and influential Kuwaiti bloggers, with a huge fan base that extends throughout the GCC region. More than the opportunity to mingle with their favorite blogger, guests also enjoyed a synchronized pizza flipping show and the music of DJ Kade. The opening guaranteed an evening of delicious food and entertainment.
The name Vapiano comes from the Italian expression Chi va piano va sano e va lontano, literally translated to mean “One who takes life easy and relaxed, lives healthier and longer.” Through their innovative spin on the age-old Mediterranean tradition of group cooking, Vapiano has been one of the most influential restaurant concepts in the region, winning awards such as the 2013 “Best Newcomer” by Timeout Restaurant Awards, and was also placed in the 2013 “Favorite In Mall Restaurant” by Citibank Fact Dining Awards.
Every meal is made-to-order and created right in front of the guests’ eyes, allowing for the ultimate interactive experience; guests can express personal preferences throughout the preparation of their meal. Also, customers can customize made-to-order creations, which include fresh homemade pasta, fire roasted pizzas and gourmet salads.
Once guests receive their food, coffee or dessert, Vapiano invites guests to unwind in its spacious seating area beneath an 85-year old olive tree, and enjoy the soothing décor which include contemporary furnishings made from imported German oak typically used on yachts and villas, natural stone, soft earth-toned leather, and a green wall of herbs imported from Holland.
The brainchild behind Vapiano’s presence in the GCC is SunCity Ventures W.L.L. Established in 2003; SunCity Venntures W.L.L. is a Bahraini based company, which operates as a franchisee and operator of popular food and beverage concepts in the GCC. The company enjoys a reputation in the market for introducing many well-known brands such as Zayt Zaytoon, Gloria Jean’s coffee and Yellow Cilli.
“We are very excited to be opening our first Vapiano location in Kuwait,” says director of SunCity Ventures Mohammed Adel Fakhro. “Kuwait is such an amazing culinary state with many different successful concepts and we are confident there is a place for Vapiano and excited by the challenge.”
Vapiano Kuwait, located at The Avenues is open for lunch and dinner, Saturday-Wednesday from 10:00am to 12:00 midnight and Thursday-Friday from 10:00am to 1:00am.

Obai & Hill organized a Healthy Fasting Workshop with Holistic Health Coach Muneera Obaidli at Organic Foods & Café. On a Saturday morning, a group of people attended the Healthy Fasting Workshop. Muneera Obaidli educated the attendees about the various methods one can be healthy during the Holy Month of Ramadan. She recommends that one should drink 2 liters of water mixed with 1/2 a teaspoon of sea salt because it helps with dehydration. In addition, she recommends to avoid caffeine and sugar to curb cravings.
